30-Day Writing Plan: Day 6, Perfection

The concept of perfection perplexes me. Perfection is defined as a flawless state where everything is exactly right. How can that be possible when we live in a world of flaws. We are flawed beings as well, facing the results of our own flaws. The world is constantly changing thus perfection is merely temporary. Everyone has a different perspective on perfection. To please everyone is impossible, thus true perfection can never be achieved. Holding oneself to these perfect standards is paradoxical, the more one strives for a perfect outcome, the more one sets up oneself for failure. Working within the confines of a "perfect" person is not only restricting but it causes unnecessary pressure on oneself. Perfection is a toxic ideology. Our desire to achieve perfection can lead us down a long and rocky path which never ends.

Perfection to me is being able to accept oneself despite our flaws, coming to terms with the fact that we live in an imperfect world. That isn't a bad thing, and it's vital that we understand that. Making the most out of our short lives, there's no second chance to do it again. Having the courage to live our life passionately, achieving our own goals and aspirations, leaving this world without any regrets, that is true perfection.
