30-Day Writing Plan: Day 5, Yum

There's an inert feeling of joy that is brought about by simple things in life. It makes one feel inexplicably happy, it's hard to explain this pure form of jubilation. Be it, listening to one's favourite song or watching their favourite show. Personally, nothing beats a wholesome bowl of fried rice. As an Asian brought up in an Asian household, fried rice has always been essential in my life. However, the pork fried rice at Din Tai Fung is a whole different experience. The Japanese short-grain rice cooked with well-beaten eggs gives a yellow tint to the fried rice. Each grain, containing slivers of the delicious seasoning. Several slices of tender pork lay on top of the rice, it's juices flowing into the rice. The steaming hot fried rice was served on a white plate, containing nothing but rice and meat. There was nothing else that could've been added, the fried rice was the star. Every time I eat this wonderful creation after a long arduous day of school, I feel delighted. Nothing can compare to the taste, texture, and experience of having a scrumptious bowl of fried rice there.
